New Years Health Resolution

Has your New Year’s resolution left you behind? Was this year going to be the year that you got your act together? It is never too late to start something new and do well at it! You do not have to wait until next year. But the one thing you have to do is put one foot in front of the other to start on a goal.

Some people might think that running a 5k would be impossible for them to achieve. Sure, if you were to try and do it tomorrow or next weekend. But remember, anything is possible if you begin with reasonable and obtainable goals. For anyone who has become a successful runner, they had to develop a plan on how they would reach that success. If you asked most runners how they started, they would all have a different story to tell. They probably would say in the beginning it was not easy but as time went by, they began to create endurance. And if you asked them why they continue to run, it would be because they enjoy it.

Chi Runners will tell you gradual progress has gotten them where they are in their running program. They will also tell you they work towards improving their running by working on one focus at first and then gradually adding additional focuses. It is these focuses that helped them to become a more efficient runner. In addition, they are able to listen to their body's conversation about making adjustments to help prevent injuries.

So if you decide to go after your dream of being a healthier you, where do you start?

Try walking for few minutes and then run for a few minutes. Repeat for until you arrive at twenty minutes. You can find running plans all over the Internet that help you work towards your individual goal. “Couch to 5k” as an example. But remember if you go out and do too much, you risk injuring yourself and you will find yourself back on the couch. Or you could try Chi Running; read the book, take a workshop, and/or join a Chi running group. Learn how easy it is to run with good form and feel good about yourself knowing you are taking those steps to a healthier you. No matter what, just get out there and start your journey, you have the power within you or should I say “Chi to make it happen”.

Running is not just for the young and middle-aged.  More and more seniors are starting or returning to running as a way to keep fit. A recent article even described a ninety year old marathoner who is setting world records for her age group.  The benefits of developing a healthy running program far outnumber the […]
